Birra Pizza is a large beef birria taco but made on flour tortillas.

It consists of layers of flour tortillas that are cracked in the pan and topped with birria and cheese.

The origin of this pizza is unknown. Like birria ramen, many Southern California restaurants claim to have invented it.

INGREDIENTS

Birria was already made here. Don’t worry, we’ll walk you through the process of creating it from scratch below.

Traditionally it is made on the stovetop, but you can also make Instant Pot Birria or Slow Cooker Birria de Res.

Look for the largest tortillas you can find in the store. These are tortillas the size of a burrito.

If using smaller flour tortillas, prepare individual pizzas.

HOW TO PREPARE BIRRI SAUCE for Making Birria pizza

1. Remove the stem from the end of the dried chili peppers.

2. Open chili peppers and remove seeds and seeds.

3. Pour into a jar and repeat until no chili is left.

4. Cover the chili with water and bring to a boil.

5. Add rehydrated chilies, spices and water to a blender.

6. Blend until smooth.

Do not use the water that was used to rehydrate the chili peppers.

Dried chili peppers are a great hiding place for bugs, and you don’t want that in your sauce. Use clean water instead.

Note: You may prepare this sauce ahead of time. Good for up to six months of freezing.

HOW TO PREPARE THE BEEF (Birria pizza)

1. Warm up the Instant Pot’s oil.

2. Season the meat with salt and pepper and fry it on all sides.

3. Remove the meat from the pan and strain the sauce into the pan.

4. Add water and spices and return the meat.

Making birria in the Instant Pot is the easiest and fastest way.

For a slow cooker: Follow the same steps as making the sauce and brown the meat. Then cover and cook on low for 8 hours or on high for 6 hours.

For traditional stovetop: Follow the same steps to make the sauce and brown the meat. Then cover and cook on medium heat for 1 ½ hours. Check after an hour and add 1 dl of beef broth.

1. Move the valve to sealing position.

2. Cook in the pressure cooker.

3. When the cycle is complete, set the valve to vent.

The Instant Pot makes the meat tender in no time.

When done, taste the sauce for salt. Now is the time to make the necessary adjustments.

There must be enough broth. If you want more, add 1 cup beef broth. Let it heat up in the hot pan.

• Remove the beef from the Instant Pot and chop finely.

• Save inventory (or inventory).

What is Mexican broth made of?

• Consommé, also known as consommé, is the broth left over after braising meat (beef, chicken, pork or lamb).

• The color is usually clear, but since birria is made with a red chili sauce, the broth takes on a deep garnet-red color. Some serve it as a soup or in this case as a side dish to the main course.

WARNING!

Leave as much broth as possible in the pot. If you make the pizza with juicy meat, the pizza will be soggy.

How to assemble the pizza

1. Dip the flour tortilla into the broth.

2. Place them side down in a hot frying pan.

3. Add cheese, chopped birria, coriander and onion.

4. Cook until the cheese melts.

Here, we’re creating an open-faced quesadilla with birria.

As the broth cools, the fat moves up into the pot.

Dip flour tortilla to trap FAT. The fat makes the tortilla crispy.

What type of cheese to use: Monterey Jack, mozzarella, or any other cheese that melts well will work for this recipe.

We make TWO open birria quesadillas.

Repeat the same process.

Do you have leftovers? How wonderful it is to utilize leftovers, and much simpler to prepare than tacos!

FROZEN BIRRIA

Birria can be stored in a resealable bag in the freezer for up to 4 months. Thaw with 1 dl beef broth. Use as usual.

Set aside while the topping cooks.

Restaurants have a large, flat surface and they can cook the pizza in half the time.

Making this in a frying pan is simple. It will just take longer.

To prevent them from cooling, cover them with aluminum foil or place them in a hot oven.

To prepare the topping, cook an all-flour tortilla dipped in broth. Spread with cheese. NO BIRRIA.

Put one quesadilla birria on top of the other.

Flip the top tortilla (the one without the birria) over. Place cheese side down on top of layered birria quesadillas.
